About
Hi!
I graduated from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, United States, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. I am grateful that I chose a major about which I am passionate, becau... se I enjoyed every moment I experienced at Mount Holyoke.
I later enrolled in graduate teaching program at my state college, which allowed me to qualify for teaching licensure in Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and finally, Georgia. In almost all these states, in order to qualify for licensure, I needed to pass additional testing. Before I chose teaching, I also took the LSATs for law school. I performed very well in all these.
I find that I am better suited to teach either individuals or small groups rather than large classrooms. My professor in my teaching practicum told me he could see in me a quality that he found too often missing in teaching candidates: he said my passion was obvious, and that the students noticed and responded to it, as well.
I like to formulate initial lessons using a student's writing. I find not only is that more interesting to the student, but that it ensures almost immediately a progression in learning.
On a personal level, I'd like to share that I have a 28 year old daughter, of whom I am very proud. I had two cocker spaniel dogs, who I enjoyed immensely. I love reading and playing Scrabble--I have even joined an international on-line Scrabble organization, where I have the opportunity to play with people from all over the world. I am very interested in politics, and I volunteer when possible. I live in Savannah, Georgia now, which I love, but someday I may move back to the snow and cold of Massachusetts. I hope you give me a try-academically, the only thing I like better than writing is sharing my knowledge with my students. I believe skillful writing impacts all subjects, and all areas in life, and I would love to help.read more
