uh, well, I was an attorney for a number

of years here in Washington, DC and then went into teaching.

I come from a family of, of teachers, uh, so, uh,

it seemed that sort of a natural way to go.

Um, I graduated from Trinity College in Hartford,

Connecticut, and then went on to, uh,

Duquesne Law School in Pittsburgh.

Um, I, uh, really

feel very strongly about, uh,

the importance of education.

I think I am, I a naturally curious person,

uh, and, uh, I love the idea of,

of sharing that the interest that I,

I might have in a subject with, with others.

I think that's why I enjoyed teaching.

I think that's why I was a, a good teacher.

Um, I used to teach high school

and middle school social studies

and, um, I've also done some tutoring

and, uh, language arts.

Um, I'm a an older guy, so, uh,

my philosophy of teaching may

or may not appeal to some people.

I, I, I really believe that reading

and writing, um,

is the most important thing you can do, um,

and the best way to learn.

So it's not the only way to learn, um, by any stretch.

There are many other good ways, uh, to learn,

including the use, uh, using art and,

and other, um, other possibilities.

But, um, when it comes down to it, um, I think,

uh, writing is a lost, uh, art these days,

but it doesn't need to be, I don't think it's as difficult

as it's sometimes, um, made out to be.

and I just love, uh, knowing what's going on in the world,

um, and why, uh, events are happening

and why things are the way they are.

So, um, I would be glad to share some of that enthusiasm
