I taught high school English for a decade between being a regular classroom teacher and substitute. I graduated Carthage College in 2007 with a B.A. in English literature. I went on to become a certi... fied teacher through UW Parkside. Both schools are in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I have been an avid student of classic literature for thirty years which fueled my desire to be a teacher. During my time in education, all my students who attended class on a regular basis and put forth any effort all improved in reading comprehension, grammatical ability, as well as their writing skills. Standardized test scores reflect such success. The vast majority also came away with a far greater understanding of the historical context regarding the text and the time it was written. I love teaching literature. I left teaching for a time to pursue other career paths that focus on writing as it is also a great passion of mine. As of late I have developed a strong desire to return to education in some capacity.
