About
Hello! My name is Monet Stover, currently I am finishing my degree at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where I am majoring in English and minoring in Spanish. At the end of the semester aft... er I graduate, I will be moving to Chicago where I hope to get started tutoring!
I'm originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and I moved to Dallas, Texas when I was eleven years old. What has stuck with me through these times and different locations, is a love for English. Since I was a child, I've loved to read and find any sort of story that I could relate to and subsequently tear through; then come back to time and time again, to really explore everything it had to offer, whether that be characters, plot, themes, etc. As life progressed, I poured that interest into writing, whether that be traditional essay writing or more loosely structured creative writing, such as poetry, and sometimes even the combination of both.
I've been editing my sister's essays since I was in high school. She is four years older than me, so while she was a freshman at the University of Chicago getting her double major in English and Spanish, I was just starting out my high school career. She would send my her essays in both English and Spanish and I would look for more basic things like grammar or spelling issues, as well as syntax errors or inconsistencies in her arguments.
I was able to use that this last semester of my own undergrad career, tutoring a student with his writing skills. I had a great time and I look forward to get a chance to not only help improve writing skills, but within that, to help students find a style and a voice that makes them feel both confident and indulges their creative impulses. Ultimately, I am still that kid that loves to read and create things and I want to be able to help others access that part of themselves as well.read more
