Reading is the basis of all learning and it is essential for all to have the ability to read. From my own personal experience as a second grader not being able to read and receiving that correct teach... ing I became an avid reader. As a teacher and tutor it is my goal to enable reading instruction to all who wish to have it. Anyone can learn to read. I have a bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education. Have taught first through third grades for 18 years, was a college librarian for 19 years, and have also tutored for 12 plus years. I use traditional phonics to aid in teaching students reading and also work on vocabulary and comprehension which all are necessary to improve reading. I have worked with students from five years of age to thirty-five years old. This includes students with learning disabilities. I use old school methods and keep students actively participating in their online activities. I enjoy seeing students eyes light up when they reach their goals they are striving for. My start in school was slow, but because of teachers who took an interest in me I was able to do well in school. I want to do that with students, help them to achieve.
