I found my love for biology in high school where I took an AP Biology course. Hello, my name is Marianna, but you can call me Mari. I recently earned my B.S. from University of California Davis in Animal Science. I work at an analytical chemistry lab and have been working here ... for three years now and love my job. In my journey to acquiring my bachelor's degree I switched from a pre-veterinary track to an education track as it became obvious to me that teaching would be more fulfilling and exciting to me. In my classes here at UC Davis, I found myself making and leading study groups just as I did in high school. I found studying with others to be helpful as you have a sounding board to bounce ideas off of one another, and sometimes it takes hearing it from another person to understand a concept. That is fundamentally the philosophy behind my tutoring. I love helping others understand material, especially with a subject like biology that I am so passionate about. Taking the time to learn how someone learns and using that as a format on how to teach is what I find crucial in aiding others. My ultimate goal as a tutor is not only to teach the subject material, but also to teach how to study as well as build confidence.
