Medicinal Chemistry
I had the privilege of participating in Michael's physical pharmaceutical chemistry course, and it was truly exceptional. The course was well-structured to cater to the needs of graduate students, providing comprehensive insights into what would be fundamentally encountered during pharmaceutical bench research. One notable aspect was the inclusion of a concise and thorough review of general, organic, and instrumental chemistry. This was much needed especially for someone like me who had not studied these topics in several years. I was able to learn new and pertinent information in these areas through Mike's lectures. In addition, I performed exceptionally well on the old challenging "American Chemical Society" organic chemistry 2 exam from just Michael's brief overview of organic chemistry in the first half of the semester. The second part of the course consisted of ADME, with a specific focus on metabolism and transporters. Prior to the course, my knowledge of metabolism and transporters was very limited, but Michael's expertise on the topics was exceptional. Michael was able to go into extensive details, supplementing theoretical learning with practical laboratory examples and real-world applications.
