About
Hi! I'm Lyn
I have a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Virginia: the school Thomas Jefferson built.
My back ground is mathematics and statistics.
I tutored students when I was an undergr... aduate math student and I tutored students when I was in graduate school.
I taught 60 classes when I was in graduate school and I have 6 years experience as a college professor . I have taught all undergraduate math level courses, especially probability and statistics. All total, I have taught about 300 math and statistics courses
I then worked over ten years as a professional statistician for companies such as Capital One, Wells Fargo and GE
I have extensive experience tutoring one-on-one, teaching in the academic world and applying mathematics and statistics in the corporate world. I know the theory and I know the applications.
My passion is improving the life of my students by teaching them the thinking and problems solving skills that will enable them to achieve their life goals.
A job is where someone pays you to solve their problems. Problem solving skills are the most marketable skill set in the world today. Mathematics, statistics, data analysis are all simply different ways to solve different problems.
But I want to go beyond just solving problems. I want to teach people how to teach themselves. I have been a lifetime learner and I feel that education is very important, it enables us to grow in life, to become more today than we were yesterday.
In the world today, access to a good education is a luxury that a huge part of the world does not have access to.
We are fortunate. Let's not waste such a fantastic opportunity, such a fantastic gift. Let's learn!read more
