I am passionate about English, Vocabulary and reading and writing. They all tie together to help us express ourselves correctly in the English language. As an avid reader since a very young age I test... ed at advanced college levels for reading and vocabulary in the fourth grade. I remain a lifelong avid reader and writer. I am currently working with two students who are second language English learners as an English conversation partner and tutor. I enjoy watching their eyes light up when they make the connections about the words they are learning and the meaning behind them. I have helped all ages with writing essays and understanding what the parts of an effective essay are. Grammar and vocabulary are essential tools that all English speakers should know and I can focus on those as well. What it really comes down to is understanding the many rules that we have in the English language and how we utilize those rules. Teaching and learning are a partnership and I want to enter into that with a willing person who wants to take the knowledge that I have to give. I tutored a Dyslexic student for a year in a program that the final outcome was to obtain a state license to become a certified Drug and Alcohol Case Manager. Hi I am Lisa, I love to teach and tutor English. My main areas of tutoring are reading, writing and vocabulary also grammar. I live in Novato, CA just north of San Francisco. I have 4 cats and a new ... puppy. I have worked for a University for 23 years and I am now transitioning to teach English as a foreign language because I believe that anyone that wants to better themselves deserves the opportunity. I have experience working with students who have learning disabilities, particularly dyslexia. I hope that I get to meet some new students and help some people out.
