My passion for teaching mathematics span over 25 years in high school, midlevel college and university maths. I got my bachelors in mathematics and education, a masters and a doctorate in applied math... ematics. I am confident with concepts in calculus, algebra, differential equations and statistics, with ability to teach it in a simple, yet highly effective manner to a diverse group of students. I have experience a diverse population of students, both in a rural and scarce educational resource background, to the city environment with a lot of resources and opportunities for the learners. This has taught me to to use different teaching and testing styles, to meet the needs of the diverse group of students. My communication skills are exceptionally good; with a flexible and adaptable nature that enable me to deliver quality results for any kind of teaching environment. From my experience, maths is easily learnt when the teacher is empathetic, which I am, taking time to introduce difficult and challenging concepts slowly to make the students understand. The subject suffers stereotypes making many students fear and shun it from very early staged of school.It has called of me to be patient, a character I have developed over the years for the benefit of the learners. I like creating an environment where my students are free to express themselves and therefore understand what they are doing. I believe in individual mentorship since learners are different with different challenges, this I do by creating time after the class for individual sessions, to bring all the students up the the required level in the class. I am Josephine, a Kenyan born passionate mathematician. I grew up loving mathematics, teaching it and mentoring upcoming mathematicians. Over the years, I have developed an interest in data analysis,... thus putting many hours to learn programming languages. I live in Nairobi and teach at the University of Nairobi I am keen to learners seeking new skills get them easily from my wide knowledge. I have been offering free lessons on programming to my university students, and especially to women in sciences as we lag behind men in my country. Seeing them excel in new careers in data science and mathematical analysis using computer programs, has given me motivation to continue with the lessons.
