Learning algebra for the first time isn't always a painless process, but it can be! In high school I was the recipient of my school's "Excellence in Mathematics" award as well as the Yale Book Award, ... and was awarded Valedictorian after receiving 5's on several challenging AP exams including Calculus AB and Physics 1. I am now currently a junior at Harvard University majoring in Integrative Biology with a minor in Environmental Science and Public Policy, I have taken a wide variety of advanced STEM courses ranging from Multivariable Calculus 1 and 2, to Advanced Physics and Mechanics. My journey to loving math and science was actually a very long and difficult one, as my algebra 1 experience was very painful and challenging for me. I struggled through problem sets, was disappointed with my grades, and was frustrated by the entire experience to the point where I hated math. My algebra 2 teacher was one of the best teachers I have ever had the fortune to have, and made the material fun and engaging. By the time our year together was up, I knew I had found my passion. I have now tutored high school aged students in algebra 1 and 2 for the past 2 years, and strive to make sure that I am emulating the same great teaching techniques that made me realize how great math can be, with great results. read more

Hi I'm Isabel! I just graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Integrative Biology and Environmental Science and Public Policy, and am a current 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. My long term c... areer goal is to attend law school and work in Environmental Law which is a great passion of mine. I love to tutor, and tutor all subjects but specialize in Math, Biology, and Writing. My favorite part of tutoring is definitely seeing how excited students get when they have the "aha!" moment and finally understand how to solve a problem that has both challenged and frustrated them.
