My interest in writing dates back to the third grade. It was a dream of mine to become a published author. Whilst that dream has diminished, my love for writing remains strong. I maintained high grade... s in all my English and writing courses throughout high school and college. During my senior year of college, I worked with elementary and middle school students at a local after-school program. Throughout my time with the program I was able to aid children in expressing themselves through poetry and story telling. I engaged with them as they learned the magic of writing. During my freshman year of college, I worked as a peer mentor for students from a local high school. The goal of the program was for each student, both college-level and high school-level, to complete a memoir. Throughout this experience I was able to explore new writing styles and techniques. I was also able to help other students find their own writing methods. My writing professor at the time suggested I become a writing tutor at my university's writing center, however, due to my schedule I was unable to do so. read more
