About
I'm Gabe Effiong, currently residing in Lawrence and a proud student at the University of Kansas, renowned for its significant contributions to systematics research. Our university is a treasure trove... for biology enthusiasts, boasting an extensive collection of biological specimens ranging from the fascinating jumping spiders to newly discovered Southeast Asian water monitor species, and even the majestic oak trees.
My passion for biology transcends the classroom; it's an integral part of my life. I find immense joy in exploring the outdoors, whether it's camping in the heart of nature or nurturing plants. This love for the natural world is complemented by my active engagement in research, particularly with the annual flower Mimulus guttatus. My research not only satisfies my curiosity but also allows me to make meaningful inferences about plant morphological diversity.
Tutoring is more than just a job for me; it's an opportunity to share this passion with others. I believe in the power of the scientific method as a principle and incorporate it into my teaching philosophy. My tutoring sessions are not just about imparting knowledge; they're about fostering a deep appreciation and understanding of biology in my students.
I am particularly fascinated by plant morphology, systematics, and botanical evolutionary change. My goal is to attend graduate school, furthering my expertise in these areas. I've had the privilege of meeting a diverse range of biologists, each encounter enriching my understanding and love for this field.
What makes me 'me' is this blend of academic pursuit, research fervor, and a heartfelt connection to the natural world. As your tutor, I aim to bring this unique perspective to our sessions, making learning an adventure that extends beyond textbooks and into the very essence of life itself.read more
