English is the language of my ancestors--both my father's and my mother's family came from England in the 17th century. I have devoted my whole life to the study of the English language, having earned... both a bachelors and a masters degree in English from Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia. I am a writer and I have a passion for writing and the creative process. Fiction is an art form and I fervently believe that creating literature can add beauty and comfort to a person's life. Hi! My name is Daniel. I have a fervent, burning passion for the English language. To me it is much more than a hobby, but it is, in a sense, that too. I derive much fulfillment and solace from the pl... easure writing gives me. But I also hope to make a good living from the teaching and tutoring of composition and rhetoric. I love the language, and I like the idea that by sharing my knowledge with others I can help them achieve their goals in life. My teaching philosophy is this: to learn to write, one must write! To facilitate this, I would insist that my tutees bring whatever texts they are working on to our sessions. I would greet them warmly and have them read their text to me. Then I would grade it for errors and the go over each one in turn and ask, "How can we correct this?" or, "How can we make this better?" I would have them make the necessary corrections. At no time would I disparage or deride the tutee. Tutoring requires tact and encouragement. I am a unique human being as is everyone. I am the first man in twelve generations of my family to graduate from college. I accomplished this despite much personal adversity.
