Hello! My name's West, I'm a current student at Texas Christian University where I'm studying Biology and Studio Art. After graduation, I'm looking to become an Ecology Illustrator, which stems from m... y passion towards making topics like biology accessible to everyone. I believe in the importance of self-motivation and understanding your own personal strengths and weaknesses in learning, and playing into those instead of any pre-constructed lesson plan. I've followed this idea throughout all of my education career, and I've learned a lot, both in school and about myself.
I have always enjoyed teaching others since I was a kid, and worked alongside my mother when she was a tutor. I think working alongside a friendly, familiar face makes the learning process much easier, so I always try to create an accessible, save environment for all of my tutoring or guidance work. I also believe in the importance of a bond between mentor-mentee, so I would love to get to know you and help you on your journey!
For Biology, I feel comfortable tutoring any topic up to introductory college courses. I would especially like to work with those taking AP Biology in high school, as that is where I am both most comfortable with the material, and I believe I will be of the most help.
For Writing, I am happy to give essay writing and creative writing input on one or multiple pieces, providing constructive feedback to take into future projects. I can also explain broad concepts of composition and personal editing practices. I would most like to work with students in AP Lang or college students in Intro/Intermediate Composition, especially if you are comfortable in your baseline writing skills and are hoping to take your work further.read more
