About
I've found a home in New York City since 2021, transitioning from LA and before that, Boston. My roots are planted in Syria, where I was born in the vibrant city of Homs. From a young age, I was drawn... to a deeper understanding of God, universe, spirituality, and big existential questions, which led me to explore various Christian denominations within my hometown.
In 2005, my life took a significant turn at a youth conference named “The Vision.” This moment marked the beginning of my full-time ministry. After serving as a youth leader and working as a clinical pharmacist, I felt a strong calling to leave pharmacy and study theology more deeply, especially as the Syrian conflict underscored the urgent need for leadership.
My journey to Harvard Divinity School was a quest for a deeper understanding of how theology and education could intersect to make a meaningful impact, especially amidst the trials of war. Here, I also discovered a passion for teaching, which was recognized through awards and culminated in my role as commencement speaker for my graduating class. In my academic work, I delve into education, practical theology, and decolonial theology, reflecting on how all theological knowledge is situated and practical.
Outside of my academic and spiritual commitments, I find joy in reading, hiking, and the company of golden retrievers! These hobbies offer me a respite from the rigors of study and ministry, allowing me to recharge and connect with the simple pleasures of life. They remind me that amidst the complexities of theology and the challenges of ministry, there is beauty in the world around us and in the companionship of faithful dogs!
My identity is shaped by these experiences and passions, weaving together my dedication to service, love for education, and the simple joys that enrich our daily lives. This unique blend of interests and commitments makes me who I am, guiding me in a journey of love, hope, and faith.read more
