You guys. Hi. Well, my name is Jeffrey Matthews. Um,

0:04

I've been tutoring since 2008,

0:07

2009 in the fall semester.

0:09

It started the journey started at the Learning Support Services at the

0:13

University of Houston. Um, I quickly, um,

0:17

got trained and certified as a C R L A certified Master level tutor.

0:22

That's a college Reading learning Association master level tutor. I am.

0:27

Uh, so I had training in working with students with different, um, backgrounds,

0:31

different learning styles, different uh, goals. And, but I, I, I've, uh,

0:35

worked on it myself a lot over the last decade and I have

0:40

had students of varying backgrounds, varying styles, varying goals, and, um,

0:45

I would like to think it's almost always been very,

0:48

quite successful and rewarding for both people and all parties involved.

0:52

Um, some of the things I tutor are, um, math in,

0:57

which is a pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, and then in physics,

1:02

university, physics one, university physics two. Uh,

1:05

I have an engineering background. I have my, um,

1:07

my primary interest in my, uh,

1:11

from engineering side is in sustainability solar panels.

1:14

And so physics ties into it. Um, but I just can't stop tutoring because, um,

1:19

it sort of makes me tick. It's like coffee for some people in the morning. Um,

1:23

if I have a session in a day that day can't be, can't go wrong, you know? So,

1:28

um, I've tried to keep up with it and now I'm fully focusing on it online.

1:33

Some of my learning styles are to sort of understand how students, uh,

1:37

learn and to adjust my, uh, uh, my lessons for them. Um,

1:42

it takes very subtle things sometimes and it takes a little bit of observation.

1:46

Um, but I, I usually, I, if, if a student prefers theory,

1:51

I do the theory, then problems. If they are more hands-on,

1:55

then we do problem solving. And, uh, it's always about, um,

1:59

working on the foundations right, and building up, um, some of my hobbies.

2:04

Like I said, I'm a very sustainability oriented guy,

2:06

so I love sustainable things. I love, um, uh, this thing, this, this handmade.

2:11

A lot of the things I use around me as sort of eco-friendly, handmade,

2:15

have a story, have a soul, and I try to do things that have soul.

2:19

So that's, uh, so I love tutoring. Let's give this a shot. Uh,

2:24

let's try a lesson. If it doesn't work for you, no hard feelings, but I'm, my,

2:29

my back, my, uh, decade odd has experience has been that, uh,

2:34

things do work out pretty well. So, but let's give it a shot. Uh,

2:38

thank you so much and, uh, hope you're having a wonderful day. Yeah, bye-bye.
