Larry Kramer
Lisbon, Portugal

Professional educator, native speaker, and world traveling literature and history geek!

First and foremost, I am a lifelong student of literature. From an early age, I have excelled in advanced placement English classes, with a particular passion for literature and literary analysis. Naturally, this passion drove me to achieve a BA in the English language arts, and I became a secondary school English teacher and tutor. Over the years as a teacher/trainer, I have used my ELA experience to help students of all ages use these skills--writing, content editing, grammar, critical thinking--to excel in their academic or career endeavors. For the last decade, I've homeschooled/world schooled my two daughters in English, history and civics. My eldest daughter recently received her high school diploma (and a 4.1 GPA) from an accredited institution, and will be attending film school in the UK in the fall. While my specialty is literary analysis, I do have extensive background in grammar, writing (both creative and non-fiction) and reading acquisition. Too, my approach to tutoring or teaching is interdisciplinary: I also impart aspects of history, social sciences and other humanities examples to provide a well-rounded understanding of literary study. I currently work online as an English and history tutor, an academic learning coach, and an ELA teacher. Through other platforms, I teach long term and 'mini' classes in essay and creative writing, literary genre studies, and general and era specific history. Ultimately, I'm devoted to tutoring and teaching English because it allows me to share these passions with other like-minded students...

Reda Rimi

English Literature and ESL teacher

I am a holder of a Masters' degree in Literature and a bachelor's degree in American and British culture. Since 2014, I have been reading, learning about and analyzing the masterpieces of the greatest writers of all time. While American writers such as Herman Melville shows the world how civil disobedience can achieve peace and freedom through his wonderful " Bartleby." Dostoevsky on the other hand, reveals to humanity throughout his spectacular works what is most hidden from it: its psyche. "Notes from the Underground", & " Crime and Punishment" are foundational in that regard. Throughout my analyses of such works as the ones mentioned above, I have learnt the literary ingredients that make some pieces stand the test of time and thus become quasi-eternal. Great literature is where you find every word serves a certain purpose: the meticulous description of the settings—time and place—of the events; the plot intricacies and tensions; characters’ intentions, motivations and development; character types from the apparent protagonist, antagonist, hero, and villain to the more human-like psychologically-deep quite subtle anti-hero and anti-villain; One should notice that the stories where such elements are present, they not only entertain and hook the reader, but also enlighten his mind and purify his internal feelings even complexes. That’s what catharsis come from. Reading becomes a self-therapy for everyone lucky enough to grapple with and analyze them. All the aforementioned reasons, have ignited my soul to put my pen to paper. I have written some pieces, a few of which I finished as short stories and eventually self-published them on Amazon. They are entitled “Our Sick teacher” and “The Atlas Mountains Hitman.” I don’t think it would good PR to share them, but feel free if you would like to have a look, I will greatly send you the manuscripts. I hope we have a chance to embark on the collaborative task of analyzing what the great minds of humanity have shared.
