I am currently a senior Graphic Design student at Washburn University, completing my BFA with an emphasis in Graphic Design. Graduating in May of 2024. Hello, my name is Nathan. Born and raised in Topeka, KS. I enjoy painting, drawing, bicycling, and playing Dungeons and Dragons. I was always told I should be a teacher by friends, family, and colleag... ues. I love working with others and am naturally a good communicator, am very adaptable, and love to see myself and others grow in their passion and dreams. Graphic Design has been a dream of mine ever since I discovered it in early high school. Growing up, I was the kid who would draw and doodle on every assignment. My creative mind, and love for drawing and painting as a kid, coupled with the collaborative and team aspects graphic design offers, instantly made me fall in love with the field. I have not been a tutor in an official capacity such as this. However, I am extremely familiar and experienced with the processes and techniques required to be a successful tutor. My tutoring philosophy is learning the tools to know the basics, so you can shape and break them however you wish. I achieve this by identifying the programs or medium of focus, and practicing techniques and exercises needed to master that material. Depending on your own experience level, this could be the extent of our lessons, or we could skip this entirely if you are quite familiar with graphic design concepts and skillsets. Afterwards, exercises on using more intermediate and advanced tools are applied to achieve specific results. Once the understanding on how the tools application can be used to produce desired results, I then challenge you to break the rules. Take the tools, use the methods, and apply your understanding to shape the program/medium to the idea you have. Proficient practice with this last step refines the process, makes you faster, and produces results you look for in a more desirable timeframe.
