Writing is a passion of mine and I would love the opportunity to share that passion. I recently graduated with honors from Santa Barbara City College with an Associates in Arts for Transfer in Psychol... ogy. I have taken various courses such as composition and reading, critical thinking/comparative literature, intercultural communication, general psychology, research methods, physiological psychology, and much more. All of which have required me to write an extensive amount of college level essays and research papers. My English teachers have guided me and taught me unique ways of making an essay stand out. I have been able to share my skills and knowledge with a few international students who I reside with. I have been tutoring them on how to properly write essays in the U.S., in order to improve their writing, vocabulary, and impress their professors. I know writing essays can be an extremely stressful task. Where do I start? How long should it be? Is this too wordy? How to write a thesis? What is a thesis? I could probably go on. As someone who has struggled with school most of their life due to a learning disorder, I want to help students cope mentally. Hello fellow students! I'm Michelle. I moved to Santa Barbara two years ago to start my education. I graduated Fall 2022 with honors at Santa Barbara City College with an Associates in Arts for Transf... er in Psychology. I'm planning on transferring to Arizona State Online to earn my bachelors and then hopefully my masters in psychology. My hobbies include, writing, yoga, and going to the beach. I currently work part time at a yoga studio as a Volunteer Coordinator which is where I spend most of my time. I also tutor my international housemate in essay writing for his English composition and reading course. I have helped him strengthen his writing skills and improved his vocabulary. As someone who has a learning disability, school has not always come naturally to me. I did not receive proper help and there was a lot more guesswork then there should have been. I want to eliminate the feeling of confusion when it comes to learning, especially essay writing which is where I truly shine. I have written an extensive amount of college level essays and research papers. What I enjoy most about tutoring is witnessing a students "aha" moment. The moment when things start becoming clear. As a student myself, I know what a relief that feeling is. I want to enhance critical thinking which is crucial in college and in life. I am soft with my feedback but I also don't sugarcoat things. Communication goes both ways and is extremely important therefore, I am open to receiving feedback as well.
