After working as an Office Assistant at the University of Indianapolis Events Office, I got promoted... as the supervisor of the Office Assistants as well as an apprentice to my boss who manages the events that we schedule and happen on campus. On top of being offered this role as a leader in the department, I was also attending the Paul Washington-Lacey Leadership Inclusive Institute Program which was a leadership program that provided more information in leading as a person of color as well as became inducted into my school's chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success which was offered to me after receiving academic excellence during the school year. Along with being involved in event management and leadership programs, I was also a peer leader in the role of Event Coordinator for the Black Student Association on campus and have become an advocate to students of color on campus which has also awarded me as a mentor partnering with the Office of Equity and Inclusion. With all of my leadership roles, I still vow to make sure a student's experience while attending school is beneficial and worth while.read more

During high school, I had the privilege to be a Teacher's Assistant for summer school in a middle sc... hool within the same school district as my high school and was able to help students stay on track and get the benefit in learning new things and taking classes that they enjoy doing rather than ones they are required to take which takes the fun out of things. I have done the same the year before as I also did the same which credited my opportunity in being in my school's leadership program, A+ Program which was volunteered and giving back to the community but also became the start to my leadership experience as I started to be looked at as a peer mentor to the middle schoolers and someone they could easily open up to.read more
