At a young age, I started to write and illustrate books when my mom stapled blank paper together for me and say, "Write a book." I did, and I kept my books. I also enjoyed words of all kinds, real wo... rds and new words, created by me. I quickly learned to make people laugh at my use of words. Many writers are also readers. In the summer, a bookmobile came to my small town, and I would request the latest horse book, fiction and real life. In college I earned a writing emphasis with my BS degree in English Education. With my MS degree in English Education, I started my career as a community college English Instructor, mostly writing classes. As a writer, my best writing is creative non-fiction, like playing cards with my grandparents at their farm. I love to mix created and remembered events. As a writing tutor, I can help with any writing assignment. You'll be the writer, and I'll be the tour guide in the world of writing. Hello! I'm Karen. I was born in Scobey, Montana and raised in Newfolden, Minnesota, a small class (25) and a small town (355). I'm a small town girl from northwestern Minnesota, who studied at Oxford... University in England for a semester and taught in Reykjavik, Iceland for a whole year, my sabbatical. I understand struggle and frustration. I got a D in 9th grade Algebra, and my high school counselor told me, "You're not college material." I completed a BS and MS in English Education from Bemidji State University plus the coursework and exam for a doctorate in Educational Leadership, not finished. Suzie my horse helped me survive my middle school bullies. My dog Fritz and my cat Spike also had good listening skills with a bunch of love for me. I ended my teaching career to come home and to care for my mom and her Parkinson's disease. I started my animal care business for companion and farm animals. I drive to their homes and farms to provide: food, water, treats, exercise, and love. Last year, I bought a 1918 fixer upper house. With a new roof and 2 coats of primer this summer, she's starting to speak from 1918, not 1974. I'm going to ask many, many, many questions to gather your ideas and thoughts.
