About
Hi! I'm Gabe, a master's student in Computer Science at UC Davis, specializing in NLP.
AI and programming have been so rewarding for me, and I love to help students bring these skills into their own ... lives.
I specialize in tutoring Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) in Python.
I'm also happy to teach Python programming fundamentals, statistics, and data analysis and visualization.
Outside of AI, I really enjoy cooking, lifting weights, making and listening to music, and reading about philosophy and neuroscience.
As a tutor I strive to be an effective guide for students on their journey to mastery, and I've learned a few things along the way.
In a technical field like ML, details are critical, but can also confuse and overwhelm new students.
I aim to balance the two, clarifying the big picture so the details can fall into place.
These topics are also constantly growing, with new software and technical knowledge produced every day.
I emphasize helping students learn to navigate this sea of information, so they can keep learning and confidently apply their skills to new problems.
The most rewarding part of tutoring for me is the "aha!" moment, that transition from confusion to understanding.
My students have described me as patient, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to, with a sense of humor. Most of my students are undergraduates, but I have also helped high school students, as well as graduate students and professionals. I've helped students with deep learning frameworks like Pytorch, Tensorflow and Keras, machine learning libraries like Scikit-learn and Huggingface Transformers, data processing tools like Pandas and Numpy, and data visualization tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Plotly.
If you're working on anything related to Python, machine learning, AI, or NLP, I would love to find out if I'm a good fit for you.read more
