Changes to Lessonpal’s Payment Processing Fee

We’ll get straight to the point: From midnight PST on July 15, 2023, there is a new payment processing fee structure on Lessonpal.

We want education to be highly affordable for everyone. At the same time, we also need to run a sustainable business to continue innovating Lessonpal and making your experience the best it can be!

What’s new?

To have a more sustainable business model while consistently improving your experience, we’ve decided to charge a small non-refundable processing fee on all Lessonal purchases.

  • This change is in effect from Saturday, July 15, 2023
  • This fee will effect students making new purchases
  • This will not affect your current or past purchases before July 15, 2023

We’ll still have the lowest fees for online learning

The processing fee breakdown

If your purchase price is below $40, the fee will be $2.

If your purchase price is worth $40 and above, the fee will be 5% of the payment.

Purchase cancellations and refunds

How will this affect purchase cancellations and refunds

As you may know, we are proud to offer a Good Fit Guarantee at Lessonpal. After the first lesson with a new tutor, if you find that you and the tutor are not a good match, we can issue you a Lessonpal credit or refund for the total amount you paid for the lesson. With the new processing fee change, the payment processing fee from your purchase will not be included in the credit or refund.

Likewise, if you take more than one lesson with a tutor as part of a lesson package, you can request a purchase cancellation for your pending lessons at any time. You can also request a prorated Lessonpal credit or a refund (subject to a nominal cancellation fee). Similarly, the processing fee on your purchase is non-refundable and will not be issued in the credit or refund.

The big picture

We are dedicated to making education accessible and affordable and to continuously improving your Lessonpal experience. Thank you again for your understanding and support. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
