I taught in the classroom for about 10 years, uh,

before I decided I needed to move on. And I was,

because I was always teaching reading to those, uh, students who struggled.

So I went back to school, got my master's in education, uh,

at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Uh,

I decided I wanted to learn more about reading, research and practice,

and went on to Leslie University to earn my doctorate where I worked with early

childhood teachers.

So my specialty is serving and working with young readers

in, uh, grades, kindergarten to, to three who struggle to read.

Um, I get them at an early age so we can help them recover, uh,

before they get too far behind.

And I like to say I want to get them into the literacy club where they not only

read books,

but they enjoy reading and the adventures that they have, uh,

through reading. So my last, uh, 10 years,

I have tutored, um, all over the country in uh, terms of online teaching.

I do tutor, tutor locally as well, but I have tutored students in West Virginia,

in, um, Illinois, right here in Florida.

Um, and I also have consulted, um,

with school systems helping teachers teach struggles to read.

That is my specialty,

to help children who struggle to read at an early age to move into

bands of average, to above average reading. They help them fall in love with,

with books, um,

as they begin to become more competent as readers and writers.
