I've been doing private guitar for about 20 years.

I've had many hundreds of students in that time. All age ranges,

all experience levels. I have complete beginners,

I have a degree in guitar performance from the California Institute of the Arts,

so I can deal with guitar on the college level,

but the majority of students that come around are beginners or intermediates,

and I'm very happy to deal with those kinds of students as well.

I can work with a curriculum or a method book if you're so inclined for people

who don't like that kind of approach or don't seem like good candidates for

that. I can also offer to much more student-centered, tailored type of approach,

frequently involving transcribing songs.

So a lot of my students will bring in song requests and I will transcribe it for

them in some form of music notation,

whether it's tablature or standard notation during the lesson,

and we will work through it. And then at the end of the lesson,

I tidy up and send it off to them as a P D F.

So I am happy to take individual song requests.

We can look at transcribing them as far as how to play them,

look at relevant techniques,

and even music that doesn't have any guitar in it can almost always be written

So even if there's a song or a type of music you like that might not have guitar

there's almost always some aspect of it that we can write out and arrange to be
