Ashaunti Samms
Atlanta, GA

Your new confidence mentor for anything acting, writing, and singing

I have completed two degrees in performance. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Theater where I completed the Performance Trak as well as the Stage Management Track at my undergrad, Wesleyan College. I have a Master of Fine Arts in Performing Arts from The Savannah College of Art and Design, where we mainly trained in acting for Film and TV, and I also trained in vocal performance. Acting is my forte, but my experience in musical theater productions, vocal training, and passion for music gives me the ability to also teach singing (mainly for younger children and beginning adults who want to find their voices). I've continued my own vocal training even after my MFA graduation in 2020 with the Nikki Maas Music studio, where we specialize in belting training for musical theater as well as pop-style music. I've been acting professionally since graduation- anywhere from extra work on TV shows/films in the Atlanta area, from regional theatrical productions to commercials, to indie films. I'm well versed in audition technique (because it is a SKILL that needs to be taught and developed, but it is not covered in the acting curriculum as much as it should be), how to record and create self-tapes, how to build your resume, and how to build your brand and network. I'm very passionate about performance, and I love teaching people who want to pursue the same passion as me. I have experience teaching the ages of around 5-6 years all the way up to high school age, as I was a mentor and counselor at a performing arts summer camp for 4-5 years in Atlanta, GA. I love teaching kids, but I'm open to teaching adults as well.

Ava Brackett
Long Beach, CA

Recent graduate from CSULB BCCM with a Bachelor's in Music Composition.

I have been studying music for most of my life. I started by playing the violin in elementary school. Also, the school would introduce music to classrooms by teaching the classes songs and having the classes perform these songs. I enjoyed my experience with music in elementary school, and it encouraged me to keep playing violin in middle school and high school. I decided I wanted to pursue a career involving music. I decided to go to Long Beach City College to Major in music in the hopes of becoming a music therapist. I took theory, musicianship, history, performance classes and private lessons during my time at LBCC. I then transferred to California State University, Long Beach in 2021, and received a Bachelor's in Music Composition. At CSULB, I took advanced music theory and history courses, orchestration, media scoring, performance ensembles, and violin and composition lessons. As a General Music instructor, I want to explain the different instruments of the orchestra, instruments in pop music, brief music history, how to read music, and music cultures. I am also open to explaining and discussing anything music related my students want to discuss, and can hopefully answer any questions they have always been confused about. I want my students to have fun during class and appreciate music even more after coming out of my lessons. I can also tutor for any non-music major music class in high school or college.
