Diana SherwoodArlington, VAA Recent College Student with a Passion for Writing!
I have a bachelor's degree in English from St. John's University, so writing essays was something I frequently did those past four years. I am very familiar with the highs and lows, the ins and outs, of writing an essay in college; from the essays beautifully planned in advance and teeming with passion, to the ones frantically typed out the day before it is due. Not only do I have my own personal experience with writing many essays, but my job as a writing consultant in college meant that I helped many people with their own essays!
For three semesters I was a consultant at St. John's University's writing center. While we were not strict about what type of writing someone could come in and ask for help with, it was mostly essays that students needed help with. Either in-person or over a video call, I assisted many people with their essays, and what they needed help working on always varied. Sometimes they needed help brainstorming a topic, sometimes they wanted to go over how to outline an essay, and sometimes they just wanted a second pair of eyes to revise their drafts. Whatever it was they needed, I used my training at the writing center and my own personal experiences with the craft itself to help them to the best of my abilities.
