Jean Pearl Agustin
Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines

English and Tagalog Tutor

I am Jean Pearl Agustin, though you may address me as Pearl. At the age of 25, I boast nearly three years of experience in the field of English education, holding a C2 certificate and 120-hour TESOL certificate. Additionally, I earned a degree in BS Psychology. My initial foray into teaching transpired during my college years, where I completed a 100-hour internship at a Rehabilitation Center catering to students with diverse special needs such as Down syndrome and autism. Post-graduation, I embarked on a journey as an online freelancer. However, in 2020, I redirected my focus towards teaching, securing a position at a private school. There, I served as a classroom adviser for 11th-grade senior high school students while concurrently instructing various subjects, including English, in the junior high school. Despite the financial constraints of my small-scale private school employment, I sought additional opportunities, leading me to assume the role of a part-time home-based ESL teacher in 2021. In this capacity, I primarily instructed Japanese adult learners, guiding them through English skills from basic to advanced levels. Then, just recently I relocated in Vietnam where I taught students from preschoolers to university students. I also trained and taught Vietnamese students for their IELTS exam. I firmly believe in the transformative power of education, aiming to cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can flourish and realize their full potential. As an educator, I am driven to make a positive impact on the lives of your students, providing them with new personal and professional opportunities.

Aside from that, I was also given a chance to teach in my alma mater at University of Rizal System – Morong Campus as Part-Time Instructor. I was handling Junior High School and College students. In College of Education, I handled Literature 1 and 2 of both 2nd and 3rd year college students with 3 units. I also became a critic reader of research paper from Junior to Senior High School. My teaching philosophy is “Teaching is awakening dreamers.” I believe that every learner has his/her own dreams, and the goal of teachers is to help them make these dreams turn into realities. So as a teacher guided by this philosophy, I always turn the classroom into a room of opportunities where they can not only step out of the box, but they can also learn how to get rid of it as I strongly believe in “Learning by doing.”
