Katleho MashilwaneCape Town, South AfricaLearn with a tutor that can speak 6 languages !
I grew up speaking isiZulu which is one of the eleven official languages in South African and I only learnt English when I started going to school. I learnt all my subjects in English and I also learnt English as a home language.
Even though I spoke isiZulu at home, I still has to talk, read and write in English, so much that I know more English than isiZulu. I also tried learning a language that is foreign to my country. It was difficult and I was doing it by myself, so I really struggled. I can empathize with students when they struggle with English as I have been in their shoes and I will be able to help them and support them.
I am currently in my second year in university studying Bachelor of Social Science, which involves a lot of reading, critical thinking, evaluation and essay writing. So far I have written more than 20 essays, where I had to do extensive research on the topic at hand, with that I am to find material that is best suited for the students, to help make learning English a lot easier. One of my majors is Psychology and I can incorporate the knowledge I learnt about memory, learning and conditioning to help students retain the information faster and efficiently.
