Anna PattersonSpartanburg, SCBallet Coach
I started my dance training at age 9 with Irish Step Dancing under the instruction of Pam Pierce and Sandra Connick of Connick School of Irish Dance. I placed 1st in all advanced Feisanna categories and qualified for Nationals. After making it to Nationals, I began my training in ballet under the instruction of Lona Gomez, a School of American Ballet National Visiting Fellow, and Carlos Agudelo.
I danced in over 18 classical ballets and contemporary ballets and trained full-time as a ballet student in the pre-professional division totaling about 15 hours a week. My training at Ballet Spartanburg helped me get accepted into exclusive undergraduate dance programs like the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Point Park University, and Belhaven University all with scholarships. I attended Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's summer program and was waitlisted for School of American Ballet's summer program (8% acceptance rate.)
I was an intern with Ballet Spartanburg, and a TA for the summer programs under Analay Saiz, the principal of the school.
I then attended Converse University, and performed in over 10 shows during my four years there. Some of my favorite roles I danced at Converse was Victoria in CATS and the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland. During my time at Converse, I also received the opportunity to choreograph for Alice in Wonderland.
