I have been tutoring Writing/English since high school, so over 10 years now. It started as volunteering and I continued this through college, and then I started freelance tutoring as well, which I ha... ve been doing for over 5 years now. I have loved Writing for as long as I can remember, but I know not everyone feels the same. If this doesn't work for you, I understand and there are more tutors available on the site :)* The reason I love tutoring is that I not only love helping people, but I also love being the reason why someone better understands their Writing assignment and doesn't find it as daunting as they did before my help. It warms my heart whenever someone tells me they won't hate the subject as much as they used to, and it warms my heart even more when I see a student who started with a D average go up a letter grade or two. Hi there! You can call me V and I am a Jersey girl. I mainly tutor Writing/English to college/high school students. Outside of tutoring, I love animals, traveling, nature, cooking, and DIY projects. My husband and I currently have 2 cats and 2 dogs, who we rescued and love so much. Traveling is a big priority for me; I began my traveling journey in 2016 and have now been to almost 20 countries and 24 states. I also love nature and have been to 11 national parks so far. Cooking is another love of mine. I love to try out new recipes and get creative in the kitchen; I am definitely a foodie! Lastly, I enjoy DIY projects. I got a Cricut about a year and a half ago and while finding the time to do new projects is a chore sometimes, I enjoy making things for both myself and friends and family. What I like about tutoring most is that I really feel the impact of helping people. Many of my students are not English/Writing lovers, and that's okay, but these subjects are important for both school and most careers as verbal and written communication are crucial. I enjoy being able to share my passion with others by teaching them new strategies and helping them raise their grades. My tutoring philosophy is that every student is different and so there is no one magic way to teach. I have a rough plan of how to teach a student new things in a tutoring session, but I am also very flexible with my teaching techniques since not everyone learns the same way.
