While writing in general can be tough, academic writing is something I can only say is truly soul-sucking, however, the joys derived and lesson... s learned through academic writing are truly aw-inspiring, the perfect combination of clarity, conciseness, in combination with making it accessible to the wider public. Is something one can only experience and find joy in. As a philosophy major from Berkeley, I have found academic writing is where we all struggle, it is as if we learn a second way to write. But academic writing needs not be bland nor unpalatable, instead finding one's personal voice in the writing, in addition to the clarity and conciseness allows one to truly make a piece of art! Hello! I'm Brandon Chang. I am a California native, I have lived from Buena Park to Torrance to Oakland and Berkeley. Recently, I graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in philosophy. However, my intell... ectual interests span a wide spectrum, encompassing poetry, religious studies, and even regional and city planning. I have been tutoring since I first landed community college and helped start up the philosophy club at Cypress College, there I learned the intricacies and beauty of philosophy, planning, writing, and debating. From there I have tutored at UC Berkeley, helping a wide range of students from philosophy to English literature, to political science. Tutoring has shown me that plurality and individualness bring far more to the table than that of anything else, helping foster the strengths of each student and peer is a joy unmatched! I still maintain my connection to UC Berkeley and Cypress College, by attending philosophy club when I can and helping my younger peers in their college hardships, the first thing you learn in philosophy is that we truly don't know much and helping each other reach a broader understanding of the world, is something we should all strive to do!
