Music Production is a huge part of my professional music career. From home projects to showcases, I use arranging, composing, editing, and mixing everyday. I am a long time Logic Pro user with experie... nce recording live instruments as well as MIDI. I received my bachelor's in music performance (cello) and music education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Since graduating, I have taught music production during my Residency at Rainey Institute in Cleveland, Ohio. There, I guided students to discover how to use DAW interfaces, compose music, arrange pre recorded loops, and basic mixing techniques. I also professionally produced music for program launch videos, live showcases, and virtual concerts during the pandemic. Hello! My name is Kate Speck and I am a professional cellist, composer, arranger, music producer and teacher. I am based out of San Diego, CA. During elementary school, I fell in love with the cello ... and began my studies in group string classes during school. Along side the cello, other instruments like guitar, piano, bass guitar, and upright bass intrigued me and I began to teach myself these instruments. I believe there is a huge value in learning things "non traditionally" and use the skill of teaching myself everyday in my music career. Once I made it to high school, I began private lessons and preparation for college auditions. I completed my bachelor's degree in music education and music performance with a concentration in cello from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Outside of my private cello lessons, orchestra rehearsals, and chamber music coaching, I enrolled in classes that helped me become a well rounded musician. This includes extensive study in music theory, aural skills, applied piano, vocal technique, instrumental and general music methods, and more. After graduation, I moved to Cleveland, Ohio where I became a resident teaching artist through the El Sistema program at Rainey Institute. I not only developed curriculum in cello technique and group string orchestra rehearsals, but I also launched programs in music production. Alongside my residency at Rainey Institute, I have over ten years of experience teaching cello privately both in person and virtually. Outside of teaching, I play for weddings, shows, musicals, operas, and other events as well as compose and arrange music from my home studio. I love the variety in my career and I love to share the skills that have helped me with others!
