For the past 10 years, I have had the opportunity to strengthen my skills and knowledge in the field of art and art education. I have worked in various settings as the designated art teacher. Before g... raduating with my bachelor’s in fine arts education, I worked as an art enrichment teacher in a preschool, leader and teacher of the arts program in a non-profit organization, and taught private art lessons at my art studio. After graduating, I became a high school art teacher. For the past 3 years, I have gained an extensive amount of experience working with students virtually. I have tutored in multiple subjects, art included. I have learned to adapt to the environment so that I can effectively teach the student just as I would in an in-person classroom. Hello! My name is Ifeoma King. I am passionate about the arts and have been teaching for quite some time now. I truly enjoy watching my students grow and develop into confident creators. I believe t... hat it is imperative that students learn to love and care for their artwork, because it should mean something to them. My goal is to teach students the skills they need to create artwork that doesn't only surprise me, but it surprises themselves as well. I will encourage risk-taking when it comes to trying new methods, materials, and techniques. To encourage creativity, I would demonstrate to students how materials can be manipulated and used in different ways. In my classes, I emphasize the importance of knowing the materials we use, how it works and what we can do with it. Once the students have developed the skills to achieve the look, they are able to feel more confident to apply it to their own original artworks. When I'm not teaching, you can find me in local antique shops looking for unique finds, at museums seeking something new to learn, or at the taco food truck at some weekend festival. I enjoy being outdoors and exploring new scenery as it inspires my very own artwork.
