About
Currently, I work as a full-time middle and high school Latin teacher (So I'm very aware of IEP's and 504's and having to accommodate for such measures, if it applies at all), and although it is a rat... her specified and "niche" concept, I've also tutored and taught a wide array of subjects, along with different languages. I've tutored since roughly 2014 and taught in the secondary setting for 5 years, going on 6. Also, a side note: I basically teach grammar alongside Latin language because my middle schoolers never seem to have a good understanding of "parts of speech", which is rather dismal for me to see but also good information to implement into my instruction. With all that being said, I'm also excited to say that I've tutored math (extensively) all the way up to Calculus. Although I teach Latin, I am actually a double major in Pre-Medical Sciences and Latin language. I embrace the concepts of being a lifelong learner. Everyone is growing up in this world… Throughout my time instructing, I’ve come to learn that while my students are growing up into this world, so is everyone else, regardless of age: I am, while my parents are, while you are, while your parents are, while my students’ parents are, while… Life is truly humbling when you embrace the fact that you’ll never know everything (even if you tried.) Regardless of whether a student will use “the quadratic formula” or “subjunctive grammar concepts” or the understanding of an “acute vs. obtuse angle” later into their lives isn’t the point nor goal of education. The point isn’t “why” are we learning these concepts but rather “how” can these disciplines open up my understanding of the world around me more so than before? I am always explaining to my students that school is essentially “Brain Gym.” If we didn’t work out our brains, they’d atrophy, just like with our bodies and souls; there are always means for us to grow and progress. I just simply love learning for the sake of learning.read more
