About
Hello! My name is Liz, and I have been a teacher for over 20 years! Teaching is my passion and English is my favorite subject to teach! I enjoy all ages of children and have had the opportunity to wor... k with elementary, middle and high school students during school hours and after hours during tutoring sessions.
Writing 5 paragraph essays, creative pieces, narrative pieces, novel responses or college essay prompts are all examples of areas with which I feel very competent. In terms of reading, there hasn't really ever been a book that I didn't enjoy! Character development, plot lines, themes and motifs - they all can be fun to teach if you approach it that way!
My teaching philosophy is based in building confidence and creating joy as my students learn that they can do anything that is asked of them! I use lots of praise and fun strategies while tutoring and believe that building a trusting and safe environment where a student is not afraid to ask for help is absolutely key!
My enthusiasm and passion can also be found outside the educational realm. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, yoga, gardening and playing with my beautiful dog, Riley.
Of course, my family is very important to me as well!
I am excited to work with my next student and feel grateful for the opportunity to do what I love to do most -teach!read more
