I believe students should be confident in their math skills. By getting good grades in school, their options in life (e.g. jobs, career paths) are kept open. I gauge where the student is at in knowi... ng the concepts by having the student work out the problem. Every problem has two parts: the first is recognizing what kind of problem it is (e.g. quadratic equation) and the second is the mechanics of working it out (e.g. arithmetic skills, factoring, quadratic formula). I have been tutoring since I was in high school myself. I keep it simple and fun! I have given students confidence in their math skills which has transferred into overall confidence in themselves.
