I began my career as a journalist, graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in English and additional credits in journalism through a study abroad experience that had me working alongs... ide Reuters journalists in London and Ireland. In college, I was a lead editor of our daily newspaper; professionally, I spent nine years writing and editing for a large (circulation 100,000+) newspaper based in the suburbs of Chicago. I managed all inside content editing for our main weekend news section. Afterward, I made the move to public relations and marketing with public (K-12) education and higher education and have written everything from news stories and press releases to grant applications, website content, video scripts, social media content, speeches, marketing content and more with a goal of effectively conveying our message with impeccable grammar and concise but creative content. By day I work with high school students promoting their own stories and developing content that is relevant to them, their parents and our community as the Director of Communications for Illinois' largest high school system.
