In 2015, I was accepted by Okayama University in Japan to pursue my master's degree. I received my Master of Education with a concentration in Psychology in 2018. I worked as a Chinese and Japanese tutor for two years at Northern Virginia Community College while taking classes there since I came to the U.S. in 2019. I helped students understand their class materials and any confusion they had related to homework or Chinese and Japanese as languages. HI! This is Yan. I live in northern Virginia, the great Washington DC area. I tutor Chinese and Japanese. Neither of the two languages is easy for a native English speaker. I believe that a strong ... motivation is essential for mastering either Chinese or Japanese. I had lived in both countries for a significant period. I'd like to work with my students to find things to keep their interests. Practice is another big part of learning languages. I will create opportunities for my students to practice without worrying about making mistakes or having an accent.
