In high school, my enthusiasm for fashion design was evident in my dedication to share my passion with those around me. In my sophomore year I started a Fashion Club at my school. There I would teach other students how to make easy garments and perform quick alterations. When covid hit I was able to pivot and take my club online. Some activities included making bucket hats, pleated skirts, and dyeing fabric from food coloring. Hi! I'm Cayla, and as my bio includes, I have a passion for fashion. I'm from Raleigh, North Carolina, and I currently attend the University of North Carolina Greensboro as a fashion design major. I ... have been designing since I was a child and love every part of the creative process. In high school, I started a Fashion Club where I created and taught fashion-related activities to other students with similar interests. I was also the head of my school's costume crew for the theater department. Most of the garments I made are still in use in their programs. In my senior year, I created my own prom dress, from designing a custom pattern to dyeing the fabric and constructing the dress itself. In my freshman year of college, where I attended Drexel University, I ranked in the top 10 out of fashion students in the school's annual Garbage Gala. I created a dress made entirely of stuffed animals, either donated or secondhand sourced.
