I recently graduated from the University of North Texas with my PhD in English

and Creative Writing. During my program,

I was a teaching fellow where I taught my own syllabi for various courses in

including composition and rhetoric,

creative writing and literature among others. In my classes,

I make sure to create spaces for all voices as well as time to work with each

student individually to help them feel comfortable enough to explore their own

thoughts and beliefs and eventually create work that is both intellectual and

creatively successful. I do this by allowing time to free write each week,

followed with close readings by both myself and other students in the class

where we all leave extensive and thoughtful comments and feedback on student

work. This helps my students become both stronger writers and thinkers.

Before I was a teaching fellow, I received my master's in instructional design,

development and evaluation from Syracuse University and my bachelor's in English

and Environmental Studies from St. Lawrence University.

Many of my courses focus on working with students who come from underprivileged

and I find remote learning to be beneficial for many people's time preferences

I have written one nonfiction book and I'm currently working on a novel while

also working as a freelance writer and copy editor on various projects.
