I am a passionate reader and writer with a background teaching English Language Arts, Reading, and Composition at the elementary-college level. I achieved my Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from University of North Carolina at Wilmington and have almost completed an additional Masters in English (MA). My writing is published in top-ranked magazines such as Texas Review, Sonora Review, and StoryQuarterly, and has been recognized as a finalist for prestigious literary awards such as the Jeffrey E. Smith Editors' Prize. My abilities as a teacher are flexible and wide-ranging. I work with students to develop and practice foundational reading skills. My teaching career began in childhood, tutoring my friends in reading and writing between rowdy games of kickball and hide 'n go seek. Love for teaching, and writing, is part of the fabric of my bei... ng. I've been tutoring and teaching for over twenty years now! I earned my teacher's certification in English Language Arts 9-12, General Education 4-8, and English as a Second Language.
