Hi, I'm Bristol Long. I have been working at Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts for two years and during this time my sewing skills have expanded. My grandmother taught me how to do basic sewing and how to oper... ate a sewing machine. It wasn't until I started working at Jo-Ann Fabrics that I was able to learn from my co-workers and customers how to sew apparel and plush toys. I can teach you how to operate your sewing machine, read patterns, and sew essential items. I can also teach you how to mend items including fixing a button, repairing a seam, and hemming pants or dresses. My main expertise is dressmaking. If you would like to make your own dress, you can schedule a lesson package and we can create a dress together with me guiding you. From my experience, once you know how to make a basic dress you can start adding items that make your dress unique. If you do not have a sewing machine I can teach you hand sewing. For most of my lifetime I didn't have my own sewing machine so many items I created were hand sewn. Many stitches on a sewing machine can be done by hand sewing. The majority of the first lesson for hand sewing will be teaching the most common hand stitches. read more

I'm Bristol, a graphic designer, and illustrator based out of Pennsylvania. I love reading, writing, and designing books, but I also love getting outdoors to camp and hike. Art is my escape and I trul... y love making art. Ever since I can remember I was drawing and making things. When I decided I wanted to be a graphic designer it was in fifth grade during career day. I loved creating art and knowing that I could help people grow their business through my art was exactly what I wanted to do. Yes, I had other career paths in my mind after that but graphic design had always stuck. In high school, I was able to go to the local technical school for advertising art and design technology, which is essentially graphic design. This solidified graphic design as my career path. I took any opportunity to learn new art mediums and software. I took drawing class after drawing class both in school and outside of school all through high school and college. Art is something I am very passionate about and I want to show others who are passionate about it that they can create anything if they set their mind to it. I currently work at Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts part-time and love helping people with their projects. It is rewarding because the customers come back in just to show you how their project turned out and on top of that there are customers that will teach you things. It is a job I love to do and hope I can continue doing it for the rest of my life on top of a full-time graphic design job. When I'm teaching someone how to draw or one of the Adobe programs I ensure that they are creating something they love. I want them to find their passion and love for art just as I did.read more
