Ahhh Film. What a powerful and inspiring medium. Often when getting to know someone you may hear the question, what is your favorite movie? Well this question always made me bubble up inside. So much ... so that I began to make my own films. I started a film club in high school which then progressed into me attending the #4 film school in the U.S. At Chapman University I got to work with some of the best cameras in the industry, build pirate ships, spaceships and robots for short films, write scripts, trash scripts and rewrite them, and even got to act in a few films (I will never be an actor!!). I have worked as a video editor for a studio and interned as a producer for a documentary studio. I love all aspects of the filmmaking process and I am well versed in most all of them. I will teaching you the filmmaking pipeline and how to take a story from paper to screen. I will teach the science of lighting, the software of editing and the art of directing but throughout it all there will be a focus on story. My first and most important lesson is that if you forgot the importance of the story anywhere along the process than your film will most certainly fall apart. Hello! Hailing from the great state of Washington (not D.C.) I was born and raised in Seattle and given the name Alexander. That being said I go by Alec. After many years of schooling I went on to att... end Chapman University and get a degree in Public Relations, Advertising, and Entertainment Marketing. On top of that I minored in Documentary and worked as video editor and producer outside of school. Sharing my knowledge of teaching really began out of admiration. With amazing teachers and mentors I began by tutoring in high school and just copying the tips and tricks of others. It wasn't until I tutored during university that I realized I could bring my own personality and skill. Immediately I loved it. I'm a strong believer in failure as I've failed quite a few times myself but I'm an equally strong believer in the potential to grow. I'm currently living in abroad but when I return to the states I hope to make teaching my full time career.
