About
Hi! I'm Alex, or as my students call me, Ms. Licht. (It's pronounced like the word "licked.") I'm a very passionate English teacher at a college preparatory high school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I ab... solutely love my work, and I especially love helping students become better writers (and readers!), not just by pointing out tricky grammar errors, but also by helping students find their voice, clarify their tone and purpose, and honestly just make their writing make SENSE!
A bit about me: throughout my life, I've lived in different places like North Carolina and Oklahoma. I've always liked school, and I love teaching; when I'm not working on my lessons I enjoy thrifting cool clothes, watching TV, and hanging out with my friends like any other 20-something!
I've loved writing since I was in seventh grade when I wrote a paragraph about how Halloween-decorated pencils being handed out instead of candy to trick-or-treaters should be illegal, which my whole class clapped for. I didn't like reading much when I was younger, but I now love reading and helping students find books that they like. Did you know that students who read for 20 minutes a day have higher ACT scores than those who don't? I find reading and writing to be super important, and I'm here to help you get that A and learn a lot along the way!read more
